The False Teacher of 2 John 9
"Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son" (2 John 9).

This faithful believer holds to the true doctrine of Christ. He is not a false teacher. He honors the Lord by the way he lives and by what he teaches. |
This wicked person is a false teacher who teaches false things about the Person of Christ. He "hath not God" but he is still saved. |
Observations:
Hodges, true to his system, understands the first part of verse 9 as a reference to a saved person (Bible Knowledge Commentary, p. 908). He sees this as a doctrinal deviation but not loss of salvation. The normal and natural way of understanding the phrase "hath not God" is to understand that the person was not saved. However, Hodges does not understand it this way.
Dillow teaches that the unregenerate state of false teachers is proven by their doctrine (p. 384). If this is true, then why is the false teacher of 2 John 9 considered regenerate?
